The Engineering Research Center For Disaster Prevention Science & Technology was established in order to contribute to preparations in the event of various human and natural disasters that imperil national safety and cause significant property damages. The Engineering Research Center For Disaster Prevention Science & Technology researches and develops various advanced technologies to predict the occurrence of a disaster and set the design, construction and maintenance standards in response through quantitative researches on the causes of various disasters.

The Institute of Underground Space Technology is making efforts to develop underground space construction technology and improve the utilization of underground space through the development of key original technologies in the underground space construction field and the distribution of research achievements. Especially, the Institute of Underground Space Technology contributes to the development of domestic tunneling technology through the research of various key technologies among NATM and TBM methods.
